GESTURES from the GARDEN: Sumi-e Class

Saturday June 14, 10am - 1pm

I will offer a class in using Sumi (Japanese ink) to express the lives of the plants and animals in the Japanese Friendship Garden.

Students will learn basic ink and brush skills while sharpening their ability to see the core gestures in the life forms around them. Bonsai trees and koi fish will be some of the subjects as students explore mark making with various brushes, including "wild ones" hand-made from the fur of squirrel, raccoon and coyote. All painting materials will be provided.
